Effects of COVID-19 in the ambit of the SAICE GCC Contracts Over the past months, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has affected many South African economic sectors. The South African construction industry is one of the industries which is severely affected not only by a national lockdown, but also by other unforeseen situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most construction projects have come under threat within a short period of time resulting in unforeseen delays, disruptions and additional costs. This document analyses the generic impact on construction projects under the SAICE Suite of Contracts and gives guidance on the roles, rights, obligations and remedies of the Parties under the SAICE Suite of GCC Contracts under conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
